The fall of 2010 is coming soon! Now, I know that summer isn’t even half over and that there are 62 more days to swim and grill and hang out and relax. I’m not trying to get ahead of myself but rather I’m hoping to be prepared. The crew out here has been learning and growing and truth be told, basking in God’s radiant creation! We’ll bring back stories of glacier sliding, polar bear plunges (Andrew and Evan!) peaks bagged, lives changed and fun had by all. But we’ve also been preparing ourselves for what God is going to do in and through us this August.

Rob and I shot a video for the website that new students will check out. Bear Lake, half frozen on June 4th looks nothing like Illinois. But the shots are totally amazing!!! This week the staff are traveling out and we’ll be spending some time planning and dreaming together.

(The freshman are coming! Can you hear them?)

In preparation for this coming school year I want to invite you all to fast together as a church for this next school year. I am planning on fasting on July 15th and August 15th to get my heart ready, my prayers lifted up and to communicate to God that we desperately need him.

So on July 15th I want to encourage you to fast and while fasting to pray that God would be glorified on campus through us! Specifically, that we would meet and come to know as many students as possible this year. That many would come to know Jesus because we are doing our part. That lives would be changed and spaces would be touched and that God would do the amazing among us. That Home Groups would be awesome places to connect! That the Rock would...ROCK! That our planned events would bring people in. That the different ministries would lift up high the name of Jesus!

On August 15th let’s pray that we would be a radically loving, unified, relationally whole church. That nothing would keep us from being united in the Spirit through the bond of peace (Eph 4:3). That we would have Christ-exalting love in our relationships and that many would see and come to know Jesus because Cornerstone reflects the Father’s great love.

Get ready. They’re coming. Lives are changing. God’s on the move. He wants you. He’s spreading a passion for His name!

With love and hoping you’ll join me on the 15th’s,
PSA on fasting: Fasting is a way for you to submit your hunger for food for a hunger for God. Typically when I fast, I’m aware of my hunger which makes me aware of the reason why I’m fasting which causes me to pray for God to do something. Some of you can’t/shouldn’t fast for health reasons. That’s OK. If you’ve never fasted before, please, please drink fluids. When you break a fast, don’t break it with fried chicken or greasy food or Taco Bell, you’ll regret it.
