Missions Trip Opportunity for this Summer ‘09!

Hi friends,
This summer, in June, my mom is planning a missions trip to Juarez, Mexico to work with an organization called Casas por Cristo (Houses for Christ). This organization partners with volunteers, teams, and local churches in Juarez to build adequate housing for the poor. By working through a local church, and working alongside the family who is receiving the house, numerous opportunities open up to share Christ’s love and compassion.
The trip will be approximately one week long (including travel time there and back), and will be either the week of June 7th or June 14th, most likely the week of the 14th. The current plan is to drive there and back, possibly stopping once along the way to sleep. In Juarez we will be housed in a local church (a $5-10 donation for the whole week), and will be making all of our own meals (budgeting approx. $25 per person for the whole week). We will be driving to Texas, and then crossing the border with Casas por Cristo staff.
The cost of the trip will depend on how many team members we will have. The cost of the housing project is $4100, so that will be divided amongst team members. Right now we have a team around 10-11 people, and they recommend 12-18 people for one house. So, we are in need of a few additional workers! If we have a team of 15, the cost will be $274 per person, plus the $30-35 for food/lodging, and splitting the gas cost. I know that we received a donation towards the trip as a whole already, but I am unsure for how much, or how that lessens the cost at this time.

If you are at all interested in giving a week of your summer in service to God, and the poor people of Mexico, please email or call me (309-369-9252). We would like to know by the end of the month who our team is, so that we can finalize plans and begin discussing final costs, fund raisers, etc. I have an extra brochure/packet with more information for anyone who is seriously interested!

No Spanish skills are required!

In Christ, Meagan
